ChatGPT told me what positions should I apply...

This is actually how I did it——

Step 1: Organize My Experience

First, I listed all the experiences I have, including:

  1. Academic background: college, major, reward, courses;
  2. Internship experience: company, position, responsibilities and accomplishment;
  3. Competition experience: competition name,
  4. Projects: research, products, paper, etc.
  5. Other experiences: clubs, entrepreneurship, volunteer work, etc.

It doesn't mean that you need to strictly follow the five points, you can use any format you want. The purpose is to provide GPT with as many materials as you can.

And I didn't stop here, I actually added as much details as possible, including my role, what I was responsible for, the tools I used in the process, and what I accomplished.

Step 2: Asking ChatGPT for suggestions

After that, I uploaded it and relevant documents (including the research papers and reports I wrote) to GPT, and asked:

According to my background and past experience, what position do you think I should apply for?

GPT gave me a list of potential roles. Some made sense, while others didn’t quite align with my goals or the job market:

For me, I think VC analyst and AI Tech Consulting are not ideal positions on account of the current market.

Step 3: Search on LinkedIn for double check

And then I searched online for what exactly the positions do, so I inputed the keyword "Marketing Growth" in LinkedIn to find the job description.

What I pay attention to is the Responsibilities/What We’re Looking For/Qulifications/Skills section to see whether I am a good fit for the position.

I applied the same approach to evaluate the other two career directions. Once I confirmed yes, I am interested in these roles. The next step I take si to create three tailored reumes based on their job requirements, preparing for the application process.

Just as data is the foundation of LLMs, experiences is the core of a job application.

If you're unsure about which position suits you, try this method!
